MSI is a brand that has been very involved with gaming laptops for more than a decade now. This company goes even further by producing OEM notebooks for other gaming companies in space. Working with professional esports organizations such as Fnatic and Team Method, MSI is known to produce high-performance machines for professionals. Luckily for us, they also began producing some quality midrange machines.
MSI GF63 8RC must be our first choice for budget-friendly gaming laptops. For the lowest price of $649.99 sold, the GF63 is equipped with Intel i5-8300H, 8GB DDR4 ram, GeForce GTX 1050 Nvidia and one of the thin bezels we see in this price range. The only obvious downside is the lack of an SSD included. This laptop is equipped with a 1TB HDD which means you might want to update your storage quickly enough.
With a very competitive price tag, Amazon's exclusive MSI GF63 8RC is one of the cheapest gaming laptops that we can find with a GTX 1050 discrete graphics card. The price is slightly higher than the Acer Aspire E 15, but the GF63 offers game performance up to 67% higher and exponentially higher performance compared to laptops with integrated graphics. If you work on a tight budget, GF63 offers everything you need on a laptop without setting aside a lot of money in your wallet.
When it comes to performance, this laptop is hard to beat with prices often discounted $699 and below. The GF63 has scored a respectable benchmark result, but some cheap increases will extend that performance even further. Because this model only includes a 1TB HDD, you can easily buy and install the M.2 SSD on the phone which will dramatically increase load time and writing speed. The included 8GB DDR4 ram is also easily duplicated with the available DIMM slots available.
GF63 is also one of the portable gaming notebooks that we have tested. MSI is able to pack a little firepower in a machine that only weighs 4.10 pounds. Unfortunately, this lightweight machine does come with a few caveats. A lighter laptop usually means a smaller battery, and our battery tests show the 3-cell battery is only good for around 4-5 hours playing games.

Apart from the age of the battery, the GF63 works very well as a machine for school and work. Apart from its light weight, this notebook includes all important ports including: three USB 3.1 ports, one USB 3.1 Type C port (Gen 1), headphone jack and microphone, HDMI and Ethernet ports. One of the only thing you might miss is a mini displayport outlet.MSI also does a great job by packing a 15.6-inch screen into a 14-inch frame here. The backlit keyboard combined with its narrow bezel makes the GF63 look like a sleek gaming machine that you won't find in this price range. Better yet, this laptop also has the performance to support it.
While it won't beat budget desktop gaming in performance, the MSI GF63 8RC comes closer than other laptops in its price range. This scored a respectable 3224 in our PCMark benchmark and an impressive 5384 in 3DMark Fire Strike. That's only about 12% lower than our GTX 1050 desktop counterpart. When compared to ultrabook and budget machines with integrated graphics, GF63 makes everything into dust.
Real-world testing proved more impressive with GF63. Rotating Overwatch at high settings at 1080p produces 90 consistent FPS. Modern titles that are graphically intensive like Ghost Recon: Wildlands and Shadow of the Tomb Raider prove to be a bit more challenging for the machine, printing 29 and 35 FPS respectively at 1080p high settings. You might want to lower some settings for games like this, but our other game libraries can be played at 1080p with 40-60 FPS or higher.
That won't give you 60 incredible FPS on new titles like Black Ops 4, but the GF63 does a pretty good job considering the price point. If you don't mind adjusting some graphics settings or playing at 720p, this laptop provides more than enough power to play ordinary games. Going far cheaper than this is likely to mean an integrated graph where you have to smell all kinds of separations that can be played for the modern game.

As expected for any gaming laptop, GF63 gets hot after several hours of gaming testing. The fan is also quite loud because ventilation has always been a challenge with a relatively compact and lightweight engine. The good news is that we hardly see any thermal slowdown so you can expect a fairly consistent performance during extended game sessions.This proven MSI GF63 model is available exclusively on Amazon. Other models may not offer exactly the same performance per dollar, but GF63 is a fantastic choice for playing games. It's lighter than most budget machines we've tested and has the thinnest bezel of all. As far as entry level gaming laptops go, the GF63 might just be the perfect choice for gamers on a limited budget.
